چکیده

[Purpose] To investigate the relationships among Nutritional Risk Index for Japanese Hemodialysis Patients (NRI-JH), Geriatric (GNRI), motor function and Skeletal Muscle Mass (SMI), to examine usefulness of NRI-JH. [Participants Methods] Sixty outpatients (38 males 22 females) on maintenance hemodialysis were included in study. Basic characteristics such as age, gender, height, dry weight, Body Index, NRI-JH score, GNRI, hand-grip strength (HGS), five times sit-to-stand test, SMI used assessment items. [Results] The score was not significantly related any items, GNRI positively HGS. [Conclusion] or function. A limitation this study limited number subjects. Future studies are needed associations with nutritional screening, exercise function, SMI.

Use of the Geriatric Nutritional Risk Index for Nutritional Screening in Patients on Maintenance Hemodialysis

BACKGROUND: To explore the use of Geriatric Nutritional Risk Index (GNRI) to screen maintenance hemodialysis patients at nutritional risk in Taiwan. METHODS: GNRI was used to assess nutritional risk in 179 hemodialysis patients. Two sets of GNRI cutoff values and a ‘no nutrition-related’ risk assessment were used to divide patients into groups with different nutrition-related risks. For each cl...

Geriatric Nutritional Risk Index as a Simple Predictor of Mortality in Maintenance Hemodialysis Patients: A Single Center Study

Background: Malnutrition is associated with higher risk of mortality in maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients. The geriatric nutritional risk index (GNRI) has been developed as a tool to assess the nutritional risk. Objectives: The purpose of the present study was to examine the significance of the GNRI as a mortality predictor in MHD patients. Methods: We retrospectively examined the GNRI of...

Geriatric Nutritional Risk Index: a new index for evaluating at-risk elderly medical patients.

BACKGROUND Patients at risk of malnutrition and related morbidity and mortality can be identified with the Nutritional Risk Index (NRI). However, this index remains limited for elderly patients because of difficulties in establishing their normal weight. OBJECTIVE Therefore, we replaced the usual weight in this formula by ideal weight according to the Lorentz formula (WLo), creating a new ind...

The geriatric nutritional risk index may predict healthcare costs and health transitions during hemodialysis in China.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES The aim of the present study was to retrospectively analyze the relationship between the Geriatric Nutritional Risk Index (GNRI) at baseline and healthcare costs of three-month as well as the risk of quality-of-life score at the 6-month follow-up for Chinese hemodialysis patients. METHODS AND STUDY DESIGN One hundred patients who had been on maintenance hemodialysis ...
